Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Trademarks team. The ideal candidate must have excellent writing and research abilities and be passionate about helping individuals and businesses.  

Office locations available in Leesburg VA, Richmond VA, or Chicago IL. Hybrid or remote opportunities for the right candidate.

Required Qualifications:  

• MUST be a member of any state bar in good standing. VA bar preferred.  

• Minimum of two (2) years Trademark experience.  

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.  

• Advanced organizational and communication skills, with the ability to track projects to completion, take ownership of work product, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.   

Key Responsibilities:  

• Conduct and analyze trademark searches, draft opinion letters and counsel clients on new trademark and service mark selection, clearance and registration 

• U.S. and international trademark prosecution experience for foreign and domestic clients 

• Global trademark portfolio strategy development and maintenance experience  

• Copyright counseling and application prosecution 

• Draft and counsel on IP licenses, assignments and other IP agreements 

• Conduct IP due diligence. 

• Manage global IP enforcement, including cease and desist letters, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and foreign opposition and cancellation proceedings, UDRP proceedings and online takedowns. 

• Drafting and filing litigation documents, counseling clients and managing, settling and avoiding foreign and domestic trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings. 

• Proactively monitoring clients' trademarks for infringement, including reviewing watch subscriptions
